About Michael Skirving - Worcester & Stourbridge Hypnotherapy
Hypnosis, Hypnotherapy and Pure Hypnoanalysis
Michael Skirving, TD, D.Hyp. MIAPH
I studied hypnotherapy and hypnoanalysis with the Hypnotherapy Control Board, the largest hypnotherapy training school in Europe, and I continue to study for the advanced diploma as continuous professional development.
I hold a Diploma of Hypnotherapy and Hypnoanalysis, specialising in the use of hypnoanalysis to resolve emotional or anxiety related problems. In fact, I am one of very few therapists in the Wyre Forest and Worcestershire area trained in the use of this particular type of therapy.
International Association of Pure Hypno Analysts
I am proud to be a member of The International Association of Pure Hypnoanalysts. The organisation was established in 1981 to better serve the professional and ethical use of hypnosis to treat nervous disorders and emotional problems.

Practitioners can only join the IAPH if they successfully complete a detailed written examination. There is no other way of joining.
Members who have satisfied an Examination Board of their knowledge and level of competence must then agree to be bound by a code of practice and ethics of the highest order; they also undertaken to abide by the Rules of the Association, which includes them to take out Professional Indemnity Insurance, which is to be displayed in the consulting room together with the Associations qualifications.
By abiding with the code of practice for the IAPH, practitioners agree to discharge each and every client from treatment at the earliest possible moment consistent with that client's good care. |
The IAPH run continuous professional development programmes throughout the year to ensure its members are up to date with developments and research.
Since my acceptance into the IAPH I have attended the following intensive training sessions, some more than once:
- Secrets of Successful Hypno Analysis (4)
- Building a Busy Practice
- ‘Easy’ Smoking Cessation
- ‘Blowaway’ Technique for Children
- Medical Hypnotherapy (Hypno Anaesthesiology)
- Understanding the victims Sexual Abuse and Sexual Offending
- Search Engine Optimisation
- The Secrets of effectively Assessing and Motivating clients
- Secrets of Pure Free Association
I am currently developing a particular therapy for effective weight management, see www,ThinkMeSlim.co.uk
My background ...
In the past I have spent over 20 years working within international blue chip companies effecting behavioural change through psychological and behavioural evaluation and have a wide commercial experience, from recruiting, team building, training and developing people within blue chip organisations such as:
- Chase Manhattan Bank,
- Shell Caribbean and Central America (working in Caribbean and Americas),
- BT,
- Prudential Assurance,
- Galileo
- Eagle Star.
I have been a presenter for the Institute for International Research, based in Dubai.
Working within Jungian theory, I specialise in behavioural profiling for commercial applications using the 'Colours' workshop to promote understanding of behavioural style as a management tool. My philosophy is that you should first understand self, and then appreciate the contribution of others in order to develop strategies to adapt and connect with them.
Team effectiveness and appraisal skills are enhanced by serving with the TA for over 14 years, commanding a reconnaissance squadron and trained in Officer selection with the Army Regular Commissioning Board.
